Ahmed El Alfi is the Chairman and co-founder of Sawari Ventures, a leading venture capital firm based in Cairo, and co-founder of Flat6Labs, one of MENA’s premier early-stage funds. He is also the Chairman of The Greek Campus, a startup innovation hub in Cairo. Recognized by Fast Company as one of the most creative people in business, Alfi has over 25 years of experience investing in and supporting early-stage companies. Born and raised in California, Alfi moved to Egypt in 2006 to lead EFG-Hermes Private Equity as CEO. Before that, he co-founded Hybrid Capital Partners, a private investment firm. His passion lies in building a venture capital ecosystem that empowers young innovators to solve societal challenges using technology and showcases the untapped potential of the MENA region’s startup landscape. Through Sawari Ventures, Alfi focuses on transforming regional economies by investing in high-impact, sustainable companies. In 2011, he co-founded Flat6Labs, now a major startup accelerator operating in five countries. Alfi is also actively involved in digitizing North Africa, founding Nafham, an Arabic online educational platform that has provided over 100 million free lessons to 5 million students in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
